About
I am a lecturer in People Science in the Department of Management, ΢ÃÜȦ Business School, ΢ÃÜȦ, London. A practitioner and academic developer in Higher Education with substantial experience in multidisciplinary practice including Business and Management Studies, Research Studies Employability, Graduate Outcomes, Student Experience, Health Service/Workforce Management, and Employee Resilience. Complemented by experience with knowledge Exchange (KE) and Business and Industry, 3rd sector and Community Engagement, international education development, research income generation. I collaborate with industry on research and consultancy projects. Through my professional career I have engaged in module leadership, classroom delivery (Level 4-7), developed materials across these levels, engaged in strategic development and enhancement of student experience. Through a mix of academic and administrative roles, I contributed towards the development of Inclusive curriculum framework and have ensured that the student experience has been of the highest possible quality. In these roles, I have oversight over quality assurance and enhancements including professional and regulatory bodies' standards. Very results-oriented with strong ability to learn and adapt to new environments with a view to attaining set objectives.
I have also engaged in wider consultative activities as an associate of the Developing Community Innovative Empowerment (DICE) Consortium. Presently, I am part of the Stupreneur Team which has developed the model for enhancing the student experience through entrepreneurial and employability activities under the Umbrella of "Your Life is Your Business". The DICE team also provides input to a London University for its Higher Education Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) survey, Higher Education Innovation funding (HEIF) accountability statements and HEIF reporting and Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) return. I am presently working with the lead consultant to develop templates for these activities.
Alongside teaching at ΢ÃÜȦ, I am a registered general nurse / Practice Educator across public and private health care sectors. My approach to work is grounded in seeing things through the lens of nursing which allows me the flexibility to adopt a holistic concept towards teaching and learning and project evaluation. I am particularly interested in leadership and management in health especially in relation to student and staff health and wellbeing and how this impacts resilience in Higher Education and the workplace.

My learning and teaching activities are grounded in research-led and inclusive curriculum pedagogy and informed by knowledge from my research on the impact of personal tutoring on students: using personal tutoring to improve student success in ΢ÃÜȦ. Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) is pursued through dissemination of research at internal and external events.

Courses taught
I completed my PhD in workforce management in the health service, exploring the expanded role of nurses in diagnosing and prescribing in developing countries as a way of optimising limited resources. My research examining workplace resilience has been published in Human Resource Development International (2015). Promoting professional skills for nurses published in Nursing Standard (2015) is used by the Royal College of Nursing as part of Continuing Professional Development course. My recent podcast on the resilience of Nurses during the pandemic (May 2022) stressed amongst other recommendations the importance of the use of technology, training and community engagement to facilitate collaborate working nationally and internationally in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
My current area of interest is centred around teaching and learning, continuing professional development, leadership and management development, health and mental wellbeing, developing workforce resilience, enhancing student and staff experience. I am particularly interested in research on culturally responsive pedagogy in relation to addressing the BAME student attainment gap.
Presently, I am collaborating and working with external partners on a piece of research titled ‘Mapping risks and harms from inadequate access to financial service for d/Deaf communities'.

I am a Module leader for Organisations and Entrepreneurship. I am also the Level 6 Course Tutor. Previously, I led on redeveloping of the Personal Tutor Scheme (PTS). I conducted research on perceptions and experiences of students and staff of the PTS. The research findings have been instrumental in informing policy around student support. Also, the research has significantly enhanced the profile of the PTS across the university.
I led on staff development in relation to the PTS, I led and co-designed a PTS Framework, developed and delivered training / workshops to staff. This has resulted in deepening staff self-awareness/attitudes, developed skills, knowledge and confidence. Consequently, staff expressed feeling more knowledgeable and confident in practicing their roles. Also, the training and support has enhanced their relationships with students and improved their personal effectiveness of personal tutoring. Additionally, the research findings added value to the university by improving student retention and progression and overall student satisfaction as evident in the internal Level 4 & 5 student Survey 2017. In addition, the research contributed towards improving Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the Guardian Teaching Excellence Award and the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) Award, 2017.
